India bagged three more medals in the Tokyo Paralympic today.
Singhraj Adhana, the 39-year-old para player won bronze medal in men’s 10m Air Pistol (SH1) event, Singhraj scored with a total of 216.8 points in the final. This is the second medal for India in shooting afetr Avani Lekhara won the women’s 10m air rifle standing finals (SH1) on Monday. Singhraj is Faridabad where he has served as the chairman of Sainik Public School.
The Paralympic high jumpers, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar won silver and bronze medals respectively with a jump of 1.86m and 1.83m in the Men’s high jump T63 events.
Mariyappan Thangavelu is from Tamil Nadu. He had suffered leg injury at the age of nine. He holds a degree in business administration. He is a recipient of Padma Shri Award. Sharad Kumar has studied at St. Paul’s School Darjeeling and Kirori Mal College: New Delhi. He has completed a master’s degree in international relations at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. He has also studied international business management at Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Narender Modi congratulated Singhraj Adhana, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar for winning silver and bronze medals at the ongoing Paralympic events. The PM Modi tweeted, “Exceptional performance by Singhraj Adhana! India’s talented shooter brings home the coveted Bronze Medal. He has worked tremendously hard and achieved remarkable successes. Congratulations to him and best wishes for the endeavours ahead,”
