According to MEA’s Annual Report 2022-2023 published on 23rd February 22023, India views her engagement with China as complex.
The peace and tranquillity along the LAC in Western sector were disturbed by Chinese attempt to unilaterally alter status quo in April-May 2020 to Indian armed forces responded appropriately. India conveyed to China that restoration of normalcy will require a restoration of peace and tranquillity in the border areas. India highlighted that India-China relationship is best served by observing mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, and mutual interests. Both sides remain engaged through diplomatic and military channels to resolve the remaining issues along the LAC.
In the case of Pakistan, India desires normal neighbourly relations. India’s consistent view is that any issue between India and Pakistan should be resolved bilaterally and peacefully, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence. The onus is on Pakistan to create such a conducive environment.
