The 22-year-old Indian para-badminton player from Rajasthan Krishna Nagar won Gold after defeated Hong Kong player Chu Man Kai with 21-17, 16-21, 21-17 in Men’s Singles on SH6 on the last day of Tokyo Paralympics Games.
Noida District Magistrate and Indian para-badminton player Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj bagged silver after defeated by France player Lucas Mazur with 21-15, 17-21, 15-21 in the Men’s Singles SL4 class final.
In the 2018 Para Asian Games in Indonesia, Krishna Nagar won a bronze medal in the singles event.
In the 2019 Para Badminton World Championships in Basel, Switzerland Krishna Nagar has won the silver medal in the men’s doubles event alongside compatriot Raja Magotra. He also won a bronze in the singles event.
Suhas is also an IAS officer of the 2007 batch of Uttar Pradesh. He is presently serving as District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar. He has also served as the District Magistrate of Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh).
India won a total of 19 medals in Tokyo Paralympics 2020. India has finished with five golds, Eight silvers and six bronze medals at Tokyo Paralympics 2020 Games.
Out of a total of 162 nations, India have finished 24th in the overall medal tally.
