A plane carrying 68 passenger and 4 crew members has crashed near Pokhra. The plane was flying from the capital city Kathmandu to Pokhra in Central Nepal. The plane belonged to domestic air career Yeti Airline.
Nepal has a history of air crashes and poor air safety records which is attributed to Himalayan terrains, fast changing weather conditions, insufficient training to crew and poor maintenance of old aircrafts.

As a result, EU banned its air space to all Nepalese airlines in 2013 over air safety issue. The ban still continues.
Apparently, EU wants Nepal to overhaul Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) by splitting it into two into two, separating regulatory and service provider roles. Despite saying they would do so.
