17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023 will be held in Indore Madhya Pradesh from 8th to 10th January 2023. The theme of this PBD is “Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal”.
On Day 2 (viz. on 9th January 2023), the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention 2023 will be inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India in the presence of Chief guest of PBD.
The Convention will include five Plenary Sessions on Role of Diaspora Youth in Innovation and New Technologies (Plenary Session I), Role of Indian Diaspora in promoting Indian Healthcare Eco-system in Amrit Kaal: Vision @2047 (Plenary Session II), Leveraging the Soft Power of India- Goodwill through Craft, Cuisine & Creativity (Plenary Session III), Enabling global mobility of Indian workforce – Role of Indian Diaspora (Plenary Session IV) and on Harnessing the potential of women diaspora entrepreneurs towards an inclusive approach to nation building (Plenary Session V).
Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards Ceremony will be held on Day 3 before conclusion of the Convention.
Commencing the year 2003, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated/organised every two years by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India to recognise the contributions made by the overseas Indian community towards the development of India.
The Inauguration Day of PBD commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on 9 January 1915.
The last 16TH Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was held in 2021 in virtual mode due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
